An early example of Mies van der Rohe's great classic Bauhaus armchair the MR20 upholstered in original Eisengarn fabric.
Margaretha Reichardt (1907-1984) also known as Grete Reichardt, was a textile artist, weaver, and graphic designer from Erfurt, Germany. She was one of the most important designers to emerge from the Bauhaus design school's weaving workshop in Dessau, Germany. She developed Eisengarn in 1926 which is the iron-yarn -belt used by Marcel Breuer and Mies van der Rohe on their first chairs.
This example was once in the collection of Michael and Gabrielle Boyd.
A museum quality example of this well known chair.
The chair is in good vintage condition for a 90 year old. -
