About the Designers:
Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) and Martin Eisler (1913-1977) founded Forma Brazil, one of the most iconic and influential Brazilian furniture companies during the mid-century Modernist movement. Forma Brazil embodied a new era of Brazilian design, merging traditional elegance with modern functionality.
Hauner and Eisler epitomized Brazilian Modernist design as São Paulo experienced rapid growth and a newfound exposure to industrialization. They differentiated themselves by pioneering new production methods while simultaneously incorporating Brazilian motifs and cultural influences. Their skilled craftsmanship, coupled with the use of local materials such as hardwood, leather, and iron, resulted in elegant and versatile pieces that attracted a wider audience. Hauner and Eisler revolutionized furniture design, now internationally recognized as one of the leading Modernist Brazilian design companies. -
