Description
1960s Set of 8 Niels Moller Model 71 Teak Chairs with new danish rope or J.L. Moller
A beautiful set of eight 1960s teak dining chairs – model 71 – designed by Niels Otto Møller for his own company J.L. Møller Møbelfabrik Denmark.
Our set features 6 side chairs and 2 chairs with arms. The chairs with arms are being re-roped and are not shot yet.
The Model 71 was designed in 1951 and was one of Moller’s first designs, which remains an all-time Danish design classic. These simple yet elegant chairs are beautifully hand crafted, with sculptural curved backs and tapered legs – not to mention being very comfortable to sit on!
Each chair has been professionally restored with new danish rope seats in the classic Møller design. The teak frames have a stunning old-growth teak and a beautiful depth of color, and all of the joints are solid. The chairs have two badges to the underside: J.L Møller Models Made in Denmark, and the Danish Furniture Control.
If you have any questions, would like to sit in these chairs or want to do a video consultation, text or call (619) 300-3551. We are always happy to answer any questions.
Dimensions: 29.75" H x 19.75"W x 17"D
Seat Height: 17.25" H
If you want to see it or have any questions, text Nicole (619) 300-3551
About the Designer:
Award winning Danish born Niels Moller had an early interest in furniture design, which led him to complete a cabinetmakers apprenticeship in 1939 and studied further at the Århus School of Design. Niels founded his own company ‘J.L.Mollers Mobelfabrik’ in 1944 starting out in a modest workshop. In the 1960’s expansion to a bigger unit was required as exports to United States, Germany and Japan gained traction. Niels was a prolific designer who was consistently on point with his designs - smooth sleek and elegant – it’s no wonder that they are still in high demand. -
