Pair of French Deco Leather Squared-Back Club Chairs
-
Description
Handsome pair of 1940s French club chairs sourced in the south of France in supple sheep hide leather with squared-back forms and nailhead decoration to the back border, all supported by triangular wedge-feet in the front and carved, slightly angled feet in the back.
Roomy, comfortable pair with angled backs providing a slight recline while remaining supportive. Seats are attached.
Perfectly, naturally aged with beautiful patina and wear consistent with age/use. There is a small hole to the bottom profile, two small snags to the back corners, and a small tear to one of the seat cushions along with scuffs/soiling, as shown. Most notably, there is an old repair to the back of one of the chairs where a tear has been patched. There are slight differences between the chairs, due to their handmade nature. The seam placement varies from chair to chair, and the piping one one chair is black (versus a dark brown on the other). The chairs show well, void of any structural issues, and have been fully cleaned and conditioned.
