Description
Designed by two of the most iconic and critically acclaimed Danish designers, the Ax chair was brought to life by Peter Hvidt in partnership with Orla Molgaard Nielsen for production by Fritz Hansen. Taking inspiration from the boomerang shape made famous by the duo years before, this chair features the highest-quality teak and beech construction. Each layer in the frame was painstakingly applied by hand with the utmost precision to fit teak inserts at each leg. Four strechers further support the chair, two at the front and back.
This example has undergone a complete professional restoration. This includes stripping of the old finish, hand-sanding, application of new finish, and hand-burnishing with wax and steel wool. Then, it is made one-of-a-kind by application of a warm cowhide for the seat and backrest.
