Description
One of the leading lights of the Scandinavian Modernist movement who began his carpentry training at the age of 13. Yngve Ekström (1913-1988) went on to create in 1945 the successful design firm that now carries the name Swedese. The Lamino Chair, design in 1954, is known as his best work and remains in production today. Classic bentwood birch frame was made in two back heights and a large number of upholstery/leather options. This Lamino is a dark-stained highback version from the 1960s/70s and is covered in original light cognac leather with matching footstool. Marked on frame, Swedes. Sweden. Vintage condition with staining to the leather.
