Rare Pair Edmond Spence Checkerboard Walnut Nightstands End Tables 1950s Sweden

Description
Designed by Edmond Spence in the 1950s, this unique model of nightstands or end tables shows characteristics of a European creation, but with the class of a post-war American flair. Based on vintage press releases, we believe them to be manufactured by Walpole, whose owner, Wolfgang Thomas, commissioned a number of designs from Spence and his team. Made of walnut, they feature a checkerboard style pattern on the front, each with one door opening to reveal a large storage space with two shelves. The interiors are maple, which was reserved for only the best of the best. Think Knoll 541 or Wormley for Dunbar.
