An exquisite Louis XVI Lombard chest of drawers from Northern Italy, dating to the late 18th century. Veneered in rich cherry and inlaid with mixed precious woods, this piece showcases the refined artistry of Lombard cabinetmaking. The three drawers are framed by delicate double string inlays and centered with oval brass escutcheons, harmonizing with the geometric marquetry patterns that animate the front. The chest rests on elegant tapered legs with brass sabots, a hallmark of neoclassical proportion and grace. Its balanced form, restrained ornamentation, and warm patina exemplify the sophisticated yet understated aesthetic of the Louis XVI style as interpreted in Lombardy.
