Japanese Tall Pagoda Form Chest of Drawers
-
Description
This is a beautifully designed and fabricated Japanese pagoda-shaped tall chest of drawers. The chest dates to the late 20th or early 21st century and is in very good to excellent overall condition.
Japanese lacquer is a centuries old art form originally created to preserve softer species of wood which evolved over the centuries to the ultimate expressions of the art of lacquer work as seen in Meiji examples. This chest embodies a several coats of lacquer, giving the surfaces a depth of color not obtainable with a simple painted surface. The forged iron handles integrate beautifully with the architectural form of the chest. -
