Description
Painted Italian Chest of Drawers
Magnificent antique chest of drawers made in Italy in the mid-19th century. Balanced, classic-style structure with simple, stipple-shaped legs, a rectangular profile and three large drawers with original locks and gilt bronze trim.
This piece perfectly combines yellow and moss green, creating a trompe l'oeil (of classical Italian influence). On the three drawers, central medallions are drawn with a Roman-style profile portrait surrounded by two Greco-Roman sphinxes.
