REUBEN EVANS (1741-1785) AND RICHARD OSGOOD (1721-1780)
A Rare Signed Highboy
Salisbury, Massachusetts, 1768
Maple with white pine secondary wood and original brasses.
Height 73 ½ inches, width 38 ¼ inches, depth 20 ¼ inches.
The original ink signature,
makes this the first example of furniture known to us made by Reuben Evans (1741-1785) and Richard Osgood (1721-1780), cabinetmakers working in Salisbury, Massachusetts, who were related by marriage.
Provenance:
It descended in the Dudley family of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. -
