    Provenance: Eimacke Collection, New York.

    Reference: This desk is labeled by Elisha Tucker (1784-1827) who worked at 40 Middle Street, Boston, Massachusetts who worked between about 1800 and 1827. Other labeled Tucker pieces are at Winterthur, see Charles Montgomery The Federal Period, number 223 and number 302. Also, a much simpler desk with a nearly identical Tucker label was possibly owned by John Quincy Adams. The desk is now in a private collection.
