Gillows of Lancaster
Gillows of Lancaster, a Sheraton Period Satinwood Inlaid Mahogany Cylindrical Writing Desk, having an arched gallery with two drawers and two cupboard doors with ebony and boxwood line inlay raised on a cylinder bureau base enclosing eight arched pigeon holes and four small drawers and a red leather writing slope stamped GILLOWS LANCASTER to the front edge raised on two cross banded drawers above a pair of concave fabric and brass grille doors, the whole raised on square section tapered bracket feet. This fine example retains the original oval handles and paterae as well as extensive ebony and boxwood stringing.
