Description
John Dickinson Rare “Bone” Cigarette Table, 1977
Rare and sculptural cigarette side table designed by John Dickinson, executed in carved and painted wood, 1977.
An iconic example of Dickinson’s surrealist trompe-l'œil “bone” series, this table reflects his distinctive ability to translate organic forms into refined, architectural objects. The interlocking bone motif—rendered entirely in wood—creates a rhythmic, sculptural base that is both playful and sophisticated.
Works from this series are held in major institutional collections, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, underscoring the importance and collectibility of Dickinson’s designs.
Authenticated by Marianna LoCurto Beachdell, longtime assistant to John Dickinson.
