A Writing and Vanity Table by Jules Leleu circa 1950
A beautifully proportioned to form a vanity and desk combined. The middle lifts to reveal a a compartment and inset mirror. The front has a decorative diamond marquetry pattern including a drawer on either side, each finished with a gilded bronze leaf handle, resting on four tapered lags ending in brass sabots.
From the mid 1940s to the late 1950s Leleu produced a small number of writing vanity tables, each one made to order to the specifications of the client,
