Description
This sculptural side table is a one-of-a-kind work of functional art, carved by hand from a single hardwood log and charred using the traditional shou sugi ban technique. Its organic form feels discovered rather than constructed, with contours shaped by grain, fissures, and the intuitive guidance of hand tools.
The top retains the tree’s original radial growth rings and deep natural cracking, all locked within a dense blackened surface. Three hand-shaped legs remain in their natural state, following the irregular lines and textures of the wood. The contrast between the carbonized top and the warm, tactile grain of the legs gives the piece both visual tension and balance, while traditional joinery ensures long-term strength.
Made entirely by hand with chainsaws, carving tools, and open flame, the piece speaks of a process rooted in raw material and direct craftsmanship. The charred surface heightens visual texture and, once sealed, offers natural resilience against wear and moisture while keeping an authentic, organic feel.
Perfect as a side table, pedestal, or sculptural accent in interiors that embrace elemental beauty, wabi-sabi imperfection, and the authenticity of unaltered materials. Its compact form makes it adaptable to living spaces, bedrooms, reading nooks, and gallery-like settings.
Sealed with natural oils and waxes to preserve the depth and integrity of the charred finish. Designed and made in Europe by Logniture, a studio dedicated to transforming raw timber into expressive, heirloom-grade furniture.

Message from Seller:
We do not cut down, we do not destroy, but seek out downed tree limbs toppled by fierce wind storms or driftwood from the local creek. But, in that moment of discovery all it takes is a tiny spark in the artist's eye and in his vision the piece becomes what it was always meant to be. P: +38.595.396.1045 E: logniture@gmail.com
