Description
Available today, this Midcentury Modern Coffee Table in Hardwood by Carlo Hauner & Martin Eisler made in the fifties is one of a kind!
The wood pieces produced by Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler for Forma Móveis e Objetos de Arte during the 1950 in Brazil are highly designed and well-executed. This unique round coffee table is one example of the high level of their designs. The structure is made of solid Caviuna wood. The circular base has three curved solid wood panels that act as the support of the glass top, thus providing lots of storage space. The wood on this piece has been expertly refinished and is in excellent condition.
The manufacturing seal is under the piece and the last few images showcase are vintage publications featuring the coffee table. The vignette in the image showcases the coffee table with two Scapinelli armchairs and an also vintage chest and the convo looks nothing less than spectacular!
A set like this will look incredible in any mid-century modern, contemporary, or even French farmhouse so if you are looking for THE cofeetable, don't look further.
Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) and Martin Eisler (1913-1977) were the primary designers for the iconic Brazilian furniture company Forma.
Their designs were characterized by their use of unusual materials such as steel, reed, and wicker, as well as their incorporation of Brazilian motifs and cultural influences. They are most known for well-shaped armchairs made in iron, but the production is far more complex, handcrafted, and extensive.
The wood pieces produced by Forma Móveis e Objetos de Arte during 1950 in Brazil are highly designed and well-executed. The fantastic construction details are in the level of Joaquim Tenreiro, very distinctive of any production of the time in Brazil.
The pair remained active in the industry until the early 1970s, leaving behind an enduring legacy in the world of modernist furniture design. . -
