Description
This beautifully crafted rosewood Lazy Susan, made by Tropic Art in the 1970s, is a striking example of Brazilian mid-century functional design. The piece features a substantial rotating base in richly grained rosewood, paired with six removable matching bowls that fit seamlessly around a central serving dish. Designed for both practicality and visual appeal, it showcases the warm tones, natural variation, and exceptional craftsmanship characteristic of Tropic Art’s production. Perfect for entertaining or as a sculptural tabletop accent, this set brings an elegant touch of 1970s Brazilian design to any interior.
Designer Bio:
This Collection focuses on the lesser-known treasures within Brazilian design, which have yet to receive the recognition they deserve from the public.
Despite being overshadowed by the iconic designs of Joaquim Tenreiro, Carlo Hauner, Martin Eisler, Jorge Zalszupin and Sergio Rodrigues, these craftsmen and small manufacturers still managed to produce cutting-edge pieces that embodied the "modern values" of form and materiality.
Despite existing alongside their more famous counterparts, these high-quality pieces have often been overlooked or stifled by commercial interests. -
