Description
Exquisite pair of "Shang Ti" side tables in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with vibrant enamel cloisonne in blue, green, and red on sculptured bronze bamboo bases by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960s (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne“ on top of each). Each has a stunning still life motif with variations of vases, flowers, and fruit. There were 2 variations made so this is the complete set.
Sold individually for $15,000 each.

ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, A Shang Ti table is shown on page 66 in the section titled Historical Civilization Series. The caption reads, “The 1960s Shang Ti table is one of two models. This one, with its beautiful floral motif, was enhanced with the use of enamel cloisonne. The legs were sculptured to resemble bamboo in the Chippendale style.”
