Description
Rare "Tao Shelf" side table in patinated bronze and pewter with hand-applied multicolor enamels by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed on top “Philip + Kelvin LaVerne”). The artisanship involved in making every one of these tables is extraordinary.
Reference:
Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, SCULPTURE III, catalog published in the 1960’s, page 8 has a photo of this table and in the back of the catalog is the description which states: “A winding wall united architecture and the elements. Hand sculpted of bronze, pewter - enhanced with patinas of subtle beauty. A burnished bronze shelf is supported by four legs of sculpted bronze.” -
