-
Description
"Imperial Palace" coffee table in patinated bronze and pewter with painted enamels by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960s. Signed (Philip & Kelvin LaVerne) on bottom right of table top. "Philip LaVerne Collection Co." Label on the underside of the table.
Description from the original catalog:
"The fantastic majesty of the ancient Chinese dynasties comes to life in this most unusually curved piece. The form of the table curves upward, created of bronze, to frame the hand-detailed bronze and pewter motif. The Supreme Emperor and Empress are in the summer palace, overlooking the village of pagodas and peasant homes. The truly Oriental feeling of the bronze base complements the grace of this unique artistry, whose subject is very softly patina colored." -
