Two Framed Pre-columbian Textile Fragments Nazca Culture

  • Description
    Two small fragments of Pre-columbian textiles in shadow box frames. Both have strong geometrical patterns in the style of Nazca culture, located in the southern coast of nowadays Peru, which flourished from 100BC to 800AD. They appear to be woven with camelid fibers and likely from 400-600AD. One of them is a fragment of a coco leave bag and still retains two old paper labels on the back as shown. Found Estate collection.
    The size indicated here is for the larger one. The small one is about 9.5w by 7.5h by 2.5d.
