French Late 17th Century Louis XIV Ebonized Cabinet with Fitted Interior
-
Description
A Louis XIV deux-corps of beautiful, stark, linear design. The top part having multiple drawers, the middle part one large drawer and the bottom is featuring a shelved interior. Each top door is adorned with a bronze plaque of classical female figures. The bronze plaques add a very decorative accent to the piece, although they may have been added later, as we do not know of other examples featuring similar plaques. The cabinet's origin is most likely eastern French or western Germany.
