An intimate study of a statuette of a Madonna is set against an open picture book and a bud vase. The painting is executed in darker tones of umbers mixed with black and greys. This is Pushman's signature style on full display. The work is view best under a direct overhead key light. There is a layer of original damar varnish the sits over the work. The wonderful frame is original to the work and of the period. Oil paint on wood panel.
