Thomas Fogarty, Jr.

American, 1916 - 1989
Thomas Fogarty Jr. was a painter and art teacher in New York City. Fogarty, who taught at the Art Students League in Manhattan for many years, exhibited his oil and pastel landscapes and still lifes at the Whitney Museum of American Art and many New York galleries. He began his teaching career at the Pratt Institute and Rutgers University, before coming to the League, where he taught painting, composition and life drawing. Fogarty was also a member of the Society of Independent Artists. Both Thomas Fogarty Jr and Sr. were beloved teachers at the Art Students League and influenced generations of American painters, including Norman Rockwell.
