    Primary Woods: Spruce, White Pine (by microanalysis)

    Reference: The partial label on the back with the address 144 Trongate, Glasgow suggests that the mirror was made by Alexander Finlay. He advertised as a carver, gilder, and looking glass manufacturer at this site from 1802-1820 (taken from the National Portrait Gallery website). See also David L. Barquist American Tables and Looking Glasses, page 318, for its discussion of how mirror frames and their carvings were sometimes made separately in Europe and America.
