Frank Kyle Extraordinary 3 Panel Screen with Japanese Motif 1950s

$ 18,000
  • Description
    Extraordinary three panel screen in walnut and bronze by Frank Kyle, Mexico 1950's. One side of the screen features a pastoral scene with Japanese figures hand-painted on grass cloth. Kyle imported these paintings and incorporated them into his furniture and interiors. The reverse side features inlaid bronze strips in hieroglyphic patterns. The bottom and top brackets bring to mind pagoda roof lines and lend the screen its dynamic, geometric presence.

    Frank Kyle was an American sculptor and furniture designer from Minneapolis, though he mainly lived in California. Kyle moved to Mexico City in the early 1950’s and opened his gallery where he exhibited his furniture pieces and sculptures.
