Thames Valley Brace Back Windsor Armchair

Description
Fine and charming 18th Century Thames Valley braced comb back Windsor armchair, the shaped crest rail with scalloped edges, over spokeshaved spindles including the cross braces which branch from a "fan tail" at the rear of the saddled elm plank seat, standing on naive cabriole front legs and simple rear pole legs, the whole with delicious patina.
Brace back English Windsor chairs are fairly uncommon, although the practice was widely popular in American Windsor chair making.
