Interesting 19th Century English Tazza
-
Description
A display item in three pieces of turned rosewood with a lead liner to accommodate plants. A lovely piece from approximately 1830 the circular turned bowl with a petal-carved design above a separate ring turned stem resting on a solid spreading foot.
The upper bowl has been pieced together before turning and the whole piece, being three separate units has the feel of a vernacular item produced by turners at “the end of the day” from left-over small pieces.
A remarkably successful piece showing the considerable skills of the craftsman.
English c. 1830 -
