FINE LATE REGENCY MAHOGANY WATERFALL OPEN BOOKCASE
-
Description
A Fine and unique late Regency, George IV period mahogany waterfall open bookcase, having a wonderful original colour.
English Circa 1825.
An extremely well constructed, graduated four-tier mahogany open waterfall bookcase, having ring turned supports, each tier having a shallow gallery to three sides, on a rectangular base housing two sunken panelled beaded edge drawers, each having a pair of original brass knobs, with confirming sides, raised on squat turned legs finishing on brass caps and castors.
The execution of this piece and quality of timber point to a fine maker of the time, to the likes of Gillows of Lancaster, but as this was most likely a commission made piece a similar drawing can not be found to attribute to.
Wonderfully chosen timber throughout with a superb untouched colour and patination.
