Pierre Jeanneret Set Of Chandigarh Stools - 1960's
-
Description
This stool is not only a fantastic piece. This stool is a rare collector item. We adore its simplicity. The shapes evolved from a functional intention. The round top is done in massive wood. The top has a nicely shaped trough. The 4 legs are holding the top from the side. That is a very nice detail. And on the bottom, we have this very simple but charming steel ring, which is holding all together. It has a very strong shape. Each stool looks a bit different and that makes every stool to a unique piece. – Some are thinner, lower, wider, darker, with wider or more dense caning, with more traces of use or less. Each stool has its own character and that makes them so unique and different to all the industrial design, where every item is 100% same. Pierre Jeanneret created sensual designs that are not only timeless but historical.
It's patinated teak gives that objects a strong character, showing all that traces of age and its uniqueness. It is finally a historical piece from an UNESCO World Heritage site, done by the most important architects from the 20th Century. We don't restore them too much. So we keep as much as possible of the historical traces and value. That is essential because now there are fake pieces on the market. -
