A fine, highly collectible “Cavalleria Rustica” rug by Kerstin Ekengren, signed KE LH, Plitmors Jarvso 1961. It is in excellent original condition, consistent with age. This hand-knotted wool pile rug features an all-over symmetrical design of geometric patterns in vivid shades of blue, green, orange, purple and red. The designer included a whimsical detail with a rider on a horse at a corner of the field, which gives the tile of the rug.
