    After the ancient Roman marble sculpture by Glykon, known as the “Farnese Hercules,” so named because of its place in the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Farnese in the 16th century. The Farnese Hercules depicts the Roman god leaning on his club, with the skin of the Nemean lion draped over it.
