    Mid Century Murano sommerso glass ashtray by Golden Crown E & R Italy. Octagon form. Cut facets show inner cobalt and yellow colors. Retains original manufacturer stickers.

    Sommerso is the glassmaking technique of creating two or more layers of contrasting glass without the colors mixing together. The technique was originally developed in the 1930's and later made famous by the work of Flavio Poli.
