Vasa Velizar Mihich is a Serbian-American sculptor and painter who was born on April 1, 1933, in Yugoslavia (now Serbia). He studied at the University of Belgrade and later at the California College of the Arts in Oakland, California. Mihich is best known for his geometric sculptures, which are made of acrylic and explore the interaction of color, light, and space. He has exhibited his work extensively in galleries and museums throughout the United States and internationally, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Mihich's work is in the permanent collections of many institutions, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
