Pictorial scene depicts a recumbent deer in front of trees. Set in a country landscape. Unusually, the embroidery is signed and dated. The signature is stitched on silk backing, below the main subject and reads, 'Mary Clark Mountsorrell 1826'. Mountsorrell is a village in Leicestershire, England, on the River Soar.
