Cassandra Gillens
American
Cassandra M. Gillens
Cassandra M. Gillens is a self-taught artist currently based in North Carolina. Originally from Boston, she cherishes memories of her childhood spent drawing with colored chalk on the sidewalks of her Roxbury neighborhood. Frequent visits to family in South Carolina left a lasting impression, inspiring her to paint the rich cultural tapestry of the Low Country—a place that captured her heart and spirit.
Upon returning to the Low Country as an adult, Cassandra quickly reconnected with the vibrant community and traditions she loved. Her artwork beautifully reflects this connection, showcasing the vivid colors of Southern seasons and the essence of Southern living. Each piece is infused with her passion for the culture and landscapes that inspire her.
A proud member of the Beaufort Arts Association, Cassandra's work is exhibited throughout the Low Country and is included in collections across the United States. She gained notable recognition as a Featured Artist on HGTV’s 2013 Dream Home, and her art has also been showcased in international exhibitions, including A.R.T. Revolution in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2012. Additionally, her work was highlighted in the October 2008 issue of Southern Living Magazine and featured in the film Nights in Rodanthe.
Cassandra M. Gillens continues to celebrate and share the beauty of her inspirations through her captivating paintings.
