    Fine Regency period gilt and ebonized convex mirror by Thomas Fentham, London, having carved hippocampus with two gilt balls flanked by pair of dolphins atop a turned gilt frame with gilt balls, with original twist turned sconce arms, the base with acanthus scroll carving, the whole in richly burnished water gilding and retaining original mercury glass
    Thomas Fentham was a leading carver, gilder, glass grinder and picture-frame maker and occupied several addresses in the Strand between 1774 and 1825. He worked from 136 The Strand between 1794-1820. His label appears on related convex mirrors illustrated in C.Gilbert, Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture: 1700-1840, Leeds, 1996, pp. 28 and 204-205, figs. 344-347.
