Description
This unique and materially stunning Art Deco Cocktail/Occasional Table in Bookmatched Walnut & Vitrolite Top With Concave Skyscraper Style Base originates from the United States, Circa 1935. Features an inset top surface in beautiful black vitrolite, contrasting beautifully with the softened hand-rubbed finish of the bookmatched walnut comprising the remainder of the piece. The glass top rests in a rectilinear plane of bookmatched walnut with the wood grain running vertically, achieving a lovely texture and cementing the scale in relationship to the nature of the walnut, simultaneously radiating with both vertical and horizontal movement. The base is sculpturally stunning, with two convex rounded shards swooping downwards to meet a tiered skyscraper style base which matches the curves of the supporting elements and elevates the supports from the ground. A unique and gorgeous Cocktail/Occasional table, and a brilliant example of the materials and design characteristics of the Art Deco Design Era, this piece will style beautifully in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Art Deco to Mid-Century Modernist and Contemporary Interiors. In Mint Restored Condition.
