Marc's father, born and raised in Havana, Cuba, in an orthodox Jewish family, immigrated to Dorchester, Massachusetts, at a young age. His mother, from Roxbury, Massachusetts, hailed from a reformed liberal Jewish family. Growing up as one of five sons, Marc spent his formative years in Boston, Puerto Rico, New York, and New Jersey, before embarking on a journey that would take him to Israel, Rome, Venice, Florence, Egypt, and the Andes Mountains in Peru.
