A magnificent coffee table with a classic taste, crafted from painted and gilded wood with a mirrored glass top. Produced in Italy according to the design by Paolo Buffa, this small table dates back to the mid-1950s.
With an oval shape and four saber legs, this low table presents itself as the protagonist of a living room. The mirrored glass top, pleasantly shaded in amber, adds personality to a piece that borrows some inspiring details from classic furnishings to embellish the wooden structure.
An intricately carved frame runs along the entire perimeter of the top, aesthetically harmonizing with small decorated rings on the table legs.
The overall design of the furniture bears the signature of Paolo Buffa, a prominent figure in Italian mid-century design. Few, if any, have been able to blend the sinuous curves of bourgeois furniture with a modern intuition as skillfully as him, subtly altering the taste of the masses and introducing the concept of modernity into tranquil domestic spaces.
