Jude Di Leo

American
Jude di Leo, an accomplished American artist and designer, was born in 1983 in San Francisco. His creative journey began in Greater New York, where he cultivated a passion for graphic design at the Rhode Island School of Design. Seeking a more tactile experience, he pursued a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute. During this time, he refined his skills working with a fine woodworker, developing a unique aesthetic inspired by diverse influences such as Bauhaus and ancient civilizations.

Reflecting on his creative process, Jude remarks, "I find it fascinating how people in different places will come up with the same concepts around the same time. It’s part of a zeitgeist, and I think there is something much more to be discovered with how we are all interconnected."

In 2007, Jude co-founded the sustainable furniture company Bear & Lion in Brooklyn with Bernardo Guillermo, capitalizing on the city's burgeoning reputation as a global design hub. Their inaugural project, a reception table for the Rivington Arms art gallery, showcased their commitment to innovative design and sustainable practices.

Over the past 15 years, Jude has built a remarkable portfolio, designing and crafting furniture for a variety of settings, including residences, hospitality spaces, and retail environments. He has collaborated with prestigious firms on notable projects, such as designing fine architectural metalwork for Aby Rosen's residence with Rees Roberts & Partners, multiple private residences with Julie Hillman, and projects with acclaimed firms like Bohlin Cywinski Jackson and Leroy Street Studios.

His expertise extends to experiential design, where he has worked with esteemed clients such as MoMA, Cooper Hewitt, and Lincoln Center, as well as renowned brands like Maison Margiela and Proenza Schouler. In 2017, Jude established his independent studio in Brooklyn, blurring the lines between art and design. His Gibbous collection, launched in 2019, garnered significant acclaim, with his Gibbous corner cabinet named the #1 product of the show by Architectural Digest. Additionally, his Gibbous Chair won the Best Residential Seating award from the NYCxDesign Awards committee and ICFF, solidifying Jude's reputation as a visionary in the world of art and design.
