Art Deco Wardrobe In Walnut And Teak, Netherlands 1930's
-
Description
According to tradition, this wardrobe was commissioned by a Dutch private individual almost a hundred years ago. The use of materials and the craftsmanship with which this wardrobe was created are truly sublime. It is made in a modest Art Deco style with a pleasant facade completely veneered in warm walnut wood. The center of each door shows a blonde dynamic shape accompanied on either side by a dark brown surface where we see subtle flame drawings and small knots at the top. Two long stylized semi-rounded coromandel door handles run from the centre all the way down. The corners of the wardrobe are also rounded and the hood that covers it resonates with this shape. When we open the doors we see that the backsides also have the same quality of luxurious finish. The walnut veneer has been continued and the rest of the interior is finished with a teak veneer that still shines beautifully. A brass rod runs over the entire length, so this cupboard offers a considerable amount of space to hang your clothes. Finally, the left door can be closed with a sliding latch and the right door is equipped with a lock and key. This cupboard has been restored in our atelier with respect and preservation of the patina.
We also have the matching three-door cabinet. -
