Biography
Gilles Charbin (1939)
In the 1960s, after studying at the Ecole des Métiers d’Art, Gilles Charbin (for a long time wrongly named Pierre, by journalistic error) graduated from the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
In 1966 he exhibited his paintings at the Lyonnaise Jacques Verrières gallery. Then, in the 1970s, his work favored resin as the exclusive material for his sculptures, furniture and decorative objects that he created. He became a key figure at the Salon des Ateliers d’Art, Porte de Versailles in Paris, and regularly participated in several foreign fairs (Geneva, Milan, etc.). His collaborations with architects and decorators of the 70s and 80s are noticed, and his creations are exported to many countries.
The early 90s brought him back to traditional artistic techniques; he now devotes his time to painting, teaching drawing and painting and publishes a number of books. The fruit of ten years of research and work, Gilles Charbin’s resin works are all original works. -
