An almost spherical porcelain jar with slightly flattened base and top, small slender neck, and out-turned mouth, covered in the artist’s characteristic subtly blended hekiyū glazes ranging from deep black to pale blues and greens
Comes with a wood tomobako storage box, the lid inscribed: Hekiyū tsubo Kutani Yasokichi (Azure-glazed jar, Yasokichi of Kutani) and sealed Kutani Yasokichi Yasokichi of Kutani
Designated a “Living National Treasure,” or Jūyō Mukei Bunkazai Hojisha (Preserver of Important Intangible Cultural Properties), to use the official designation, Tokuda Yasokichi III is celebrated for his success in expanding the range of colors used within the family lineage and applying it to a style of decoration based on blended colors rather than traditional patterning. - More Information
