A Near Pair of Hongmu Drum-Stools
$37,500.00
A near pair of Hongmu drum-stools with an inset circular “rose” marble panel supported on a single transverse stretcher. The four-part circular frame with a moulding to the lower outside edge is joined by hidden overlapping scarf joints. The four legs, with a central piercing, are mortice and tenoned and half-lapped into the shaped apron and joined by a double moulded lattice shaped stretcher ‘tied’ at the middle. The lower apron is similarly constructed and there are four bracket feet attached by wooden pegs.
