Description
A Rare and Exceptional French Midcentury Modern Side / End Table or Gueridon by Jacques Adnet and Attributed to Max ingrand and the Saint Gobain Glass Works, Paris. Jacques Adnet was one of the premiere creators of the French Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern movements. This exquisite piece fuses elements of both. The form of the iron structure is open, transparent and daring. It utilizes both parallel and crossing lines to create a dynamic modernist composition that is entirely original. The top is composed of mold blown glass in a pebbled pattern from the Saint Gobain glass works and likely designed by Max Ingrand. Adnet had many partnerships with other designers and used this exact same glass in a cocktail table. However, the glass block is specially encased in its iron frame here and illustrates Adnet's technical engineering and craftsmanship prowess. Brass sabots and caps complete the composition adding dynamic color contrast and leaving us with a masterpiece of design. Dimensions: H 21.25 x 9 x 9”
Literature: Jacques Adnet, Alain-Rene Hardy and Gaelle Millet, Les Editions d l'Amateur, Paris, 2009, p.202.

T. Thomas Gargiulo came from a dual background as a Ph.D. in Psychology with extensive training in Art History and Anthropology to form Thomas Gallery in downtown Manhattan in 1997 to balance intellectual with design pursuits.
