Chris Klapper and Patrick Gallagher "Fibonacci Sequence F24", 2016

$ 2,500
  • Description
    Contemporary New York artists Chris Klapper and Patrick Gallagher's "Fibonacci Sequence F24" is made up of five individually hand-cast concrete numbers mounted on a raw steel shelf. The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers where each number is the sum of the previous two numbers when moving forward and relates to the 'Golden Ratio' when reversed. This ratio, inherent in our physical universe, is somehow tied to our concepts of balance and symmetry. Ever since its discovery, artists, engineers, and architects have drawn inspiration from its pervasive presence, using it as a fundamental element in aesthetics. This wall sculpture will ship directly from one of the artists' studios in upstate New York.

    This collection aims to harness this profound connection and convey our relationship with the universe in the simplest and most elegant manner possible. By utilizing basic materials like cement and raw steel, the artwork directly embodies this ratio within the pure and fundamental language of mathematics. It employs the symbols of this language to represent a universal constant, giving it physical form and permanence, thereby transforming the intangible and abstract into something permanent and tangible.
