Description
Large pair of French Rococo style ormolu-mounted cut glass vases
French, 20th Century
Height 89cm, width 43cm, depth 32cm
The vases are crafted from high quality materials, their design celebrating the French 18th century Rococo style.
The cut glass, amphora form bodies feature fluted detailing, their clear colouration superbly matching the more prominent, gold ormolu mounts. The glass bodies are supported by a rich acanthus-shaped base, its design extending towards the top and forming into two handles. On top of them sits a pair of cherubs, each one with a trident in his hand. A delicate ormolu edging mounted on the lip of each vase joins the two handles. A lush, ribbon-tied bunch of grapevines adorns the middle of the vases.
Of an intricate and refined design, this pair would be a magnificent addition to one’s collection. -
