Description
Set of 12 ash wood chairs with hand-knotted rope seats, designed by Gio Ponti as model 646 Leggera in 1951 and manufactured by Figli di Amedeo Cassina during the late 1950s.
Conceptualized by Gio Ponti in 1951, this chair is instantly recognizable for its elegant design and refined style. Whether featured in specialized articles or prestigious settings, it has consistently stood out, embodying Ponti's ongoing effort to seamlessly blend design with everyday life.
Named for its inherent lightness, the Leggera chair distinguishes itself with sleek lines and aesthetic purity, representing the epitome of design elegance. This achievement is owed to meticulous engineering, which ensures optimal weight distribution through joint study, along with the intentional use of natural materials such as ash wood, prized for its lightness and flexibility.
This set of chairs showcases the characteristic interplay of rope on their seats and has undergone comprehensive professional restoration, encompassing both the weaving and wooden structure.
